Kurkure - Bacha Lo Family

One of the biggest challenges at Radio Mirchi was adapting to the medium. Designing campaigns with just the audio medium at hand was a daunting task. But once the journey began, it turned out to be fun. Like doing an all day phone call for Uninor when they wanted to talk about lowest call rates, or creating an anthem live in the studios over the course of a day for Pepsi, or turning cricketers in to RJs for Pepsi Change the Game. It was a rollercoaster.

One such fun campaign was Kurkure.

Kurkure was launching a new campaign with the message - "Kurkure khao aur family ko saath lao". How could we bring it alive on radio? I thought what if Mirchi turned into Mirchi with Family for a while. That could be fun. Out of this was born Radio Mirchi with Family. For a week the entire channel towed this line. The RJs hosted shows with families, contests required family participation, the station jingle and all other elements changed... basically we turned into one big happy family with the brand Kurkure by our side. This was done in a way that enhanced listener experience and brought home the Kurkure message.

MENTOS MANGO - AAMSUTRA

Mentos was launching a new flavour - Mentos Mango. A lot of brands had gotten on the mango bandwagon. How could we stand out? Irreverence. We decided to take on the sexy Aamsutra campaign and give it the wicked Mentos twist.

Minutemaid - Nimbu Fresh

Minute Maide Nimbu Fresh makes you nostalgic. So we created this sweet, life-like spot for them. They loved it and so did we.

Nokia - 15 year celebrations

Nokia was celebrating 15 successful years in India. So we took a leadership stand and spoke about a success so huge that it created a generation of Nokians!

Del Monte - Cowboys

Del Monte sauces were an amalgam of never-heard-before ingredients and flavours. We decided to do the same in our spot. And since IPL was the flavour of the season and the client wanted to cash in on it, we also added it to our recipe.

Hero Honda - Film

Hero Honda bikes wanted to talk mileage. And they wanted to tug at emotions. Okay!

Kolkata Kolkata - Short Film

This short film was the baby of a workshop. The theme was close to our hearts and so is the film. It was chosen to be screened at the prestigious Kolkata Short Film Festival.

ESPN - Euro 2008

Soccer came back to haunt me. It was almost as if it was saying: "Bach ke kahan jaoge?" (Where will you escape?)

Social Service - Don't drink and drive

This ad was born on one of those days when for lack of work, one just goofs around. We had some Vodka, we had some petrol. And well, now we have this ad.

Domestic Violence

Crossed this toll plaza every day to work. And now it features in my work.

Sony Walkman

Sony was launching a revolutionary new product in its Walkman series. It was an edgy product for the youth of today. We decided to have some fun. Many debates and a zillion cups of coffee later were born the coolheads. A whole new world. A whole new people. For the cool new product.

Timex

What happens when your nephew forgets to run a three-legged race because he was busy talking to his partner? These ads happen!

ESPN - Tata Sky

Cricket, football, tennis or what-have-you. Most Indians love sports. So when a leading digital service provider decided to take away the one thing that binds Indians so strongly, these ads were born. The work of just a few hours (briefed at 5 in the evening, these ads had to be released the next day), these ads were meant to ruffle feathers. The client loved them but found them too controversial to be released.

ESPN - Barclays Premier League

Another soccer campaign. Well truth be told, I'd begun to enjoy these actually.

Monte Carlo - Autum Winter collection

Monte Carlo was coming out with it's new collection. We came out with this poster.

Monte Carlo - Sale

Like most girls (and some nice guys) I like shopping. New collections. Newer styles. Better brands. And what if you add to it - better bargains? Well, the game just becomes a lot more interesting and fierce. I have girlfriends who wait for sales. Who save for it. Who stand outside stores to be the first ones in. These ads are a dedication to them.

Sanctuary - Save the Tiger

Created this one fine afternoon. It got much appreciation but before we could do anything about it, a similar one sweeped the awards the following year.

Tide Detergent

My attempt at making a Tide ad.

General Motors Spark

Just some ads in a vast launch campaign for Chevrolet Spark.

Blood Donation Camp - Coca cola

Coca-Cola was organising a blood donation camp and it wanted employee participation. We created this poster for them.

Aircel - Colour SMS Campaign

To say that Aircel was an active client would be the understatement of the century. It kept us on our toes. But the good part was that it had numerous offerings which translated into numerous opportunities for us.

Khadim - Wash & Wear film

What if, like clothes, shoes could be washed clean everyday? With Khadim's wash-n-wear range this was possible. And who better to establish this than that stable in every Indian household - the dhobi!

Khadim - Brand Film

Irresistible - that's what their footwear promised to be. Hence the film. One of my first films, this was made while i was a trainee.

Lafarge - Concreto Campaign

Why God why? That was my first reaction when I started work on Lafarge. One more boring client. But how wrong I was! The films we created for Concreto (one of its sub brands) won us an entry into the Lurzer's TV Archive. Well, I've made many films since, but Lafarge remains my first love. Special. Dear. Unforgettable.

Adopt a tree - Public service

This is one of those campaigns that just happen out of the blue. Sipping coffee on a Saturday afternoon and watching the raindrops dancing on the terrace. Who decides to join the fun? The plants of course. Gleefully dancing to the music of the rains. Almost like little kids. Kids? There was an idea staring me in the face begging to be turned into an appeal. I just went with the flow.

Tea Board Of India

Ogilvy sure gave me a diverse portfolio of brands to work with. It was challenging. It was exciting. So whether I liked a category or not, whether I was familiar with it or not, ads had to happen. And much to my delight often good ones at that. Here are some I made for the Tea Board of India (when the only tea I drank was Long Island).

Kolkata

If there's one city i love more than any other, it's Kolkata. And what i love about it most are it's many stories. They make the city what it is. These stories tug at your heart, they bring smiles and tears. They want you to know the city better. And once you do, it's sweet heartache forever.

Isabgol

One day my little niece brought me a roll of toilet paper and asked me to make a boat for her. Bingo! This ad for Isabgol was born.

Blue & Blues

Italy! I love its wine.I love its cuisine. And I love its fashion. So what did I do when this brand came up for a pitch? Well, I brought all three elements together! We won the account but the client decided to go with nude women. Swell!

D'damas

The Hindi film industry or Bollywood cherishes quite a few delightful cliches. Designed for a jewellery brand that was launching a Bollywood collection, we let each piece of jewellery represent a cliche. So from a love triangle to rich-girl-meets-poor-boy, we captured them all. Created as a part of a workshop, this campaign was so well received that it was released by the client (with a few minor changes).

International Day for Older People

They say old age is like one's second childhood. With a little twist. We showed just that.

Khadim - Wedding Collection

One of Ogilvy Kolkata's biggest clients, Khadim's was a very active account. Tactical ads, festival ads, one good ad, range ads, another fun ad, more tactical ads, offer ads - well, this was more or less the pattern of work on the brand. Following are some of the ads I enjoyed creating for it. And yes, the local award shows seemed to enjoy them too.

This one was for their wedding collection. Henna being symbolic of Indian weddings, we married it with the new collection of footwear by the brand.

Khadim - Fliers Campaign

This one was for their range of super light footwear.

Kolkata TV - World Cup Campaign

I like sports. I mean, most of them. Except football. And as luck would have it, Soccer it was for my first sports related campaign. Having been born and brought up in Kolkata I knew emotions ran deep in the city where football was concerned. And as like most other sports, every person had their own God, and their own favourite teams. Picking a school for your child could lead to healthy debates, but when it came to picking a favourite team loyalties were fierce. Cricket may be India's religion but Kolkata's heart beats for football.

This is just the emotion we tried to capture in this campaign. So daggers may be drawn and people may root for various teams when it came to the World Cup, but as for its coverage - nothing compared with Kolkata TV. It won us quite a few local awards.
